This week has been fantastic for school trips. Year 1 & 2 visited Wakefield Museum as part of their ‘Stories from around the world’ topic and Year 3 & 4 visited the Chocolate Story in York. Some of our children confidently presented their learning in assembly this morning. The enrichment of real-life experiences really does shine through, as the children have produced high quality writing and project work.
Success for our Year 6 netball team
A huge well done to our year 6 netball team who won the Wakefield netball tournament today at Silcoates. Our team represented the Outwood Together cluster of schools after winning the cluster tournament a couple of weeks ago. A full report from our pupils will be in next week’s newsletter. We will now go through to represent Wakefield in the West Yorkshire games netball tournament.
‘Top of the class’ article in the Wakefield Express
Some of you may buy the Wakefield Express or Yorkshire Post and will have seen an article about the top performing schools in Yorkshire. Unfortunately we were not in this article, however should have been! The email requesting information from us had gone into our clutter mail, so therefore we were not aware. Due to the error, we will be in the newspaper next Friday. As you all know we were one of the highest achieving schools in Wakefield and Yorkshire, particularly for higher achieving pupils. Please look out for our article.
Internet Safety week
Next week, is Safer Internet day and the children will be carrying out activities centred around this important issue. This day is very important to our school and pupils. Safer Internet Day is on the 7th and is celebrated every year across Europe, and in other countries worldwide. Throughout the week your child will be taking part in a series of age-appropriate lessons that cover topics such as sharing information, cyberbullying, reliability and how to report concerns. We believe that internet safety is a crucial element of the curriculum and an essential part of young people’s development. This week would be an ideal week for you to discuss internet safety at home with your child. We also have a dedicated e-safety page on our website with guides, links and tips for parents. Please follow the link to a really interesting piece of information about the latest activities your children might be doing online and information to be aware of: https://www.familyzone.com/blog/five-risky-apps-children-chat-share-videos
We will be hosting a Parents information session, led by PC Paul Dix on Thursday 23rd February at 6pm. Please do come along and find out about the latest information to help guide you on safety.
