National Support School

Jerry Clay Academy was designated a National Support School in June 2017 by the National College of School Leadership.  This designation is in recognition of our Ofsted inspection grading us as ‘Outstanding’ in March 2017 and our strong record in the successful provision of school-to-school support both locally and nationally.

While the purpose of National Support Schools is to provide additional support to schools in challenging circumstances, we are happy to provide support to other schools in all aspects of teaching and learning and leadership at all levels.  You can obtain more information about what we can offer you by contacting the Headteacher via her email address:

National Leader of Education

Our Executive Headteacher, Tracy Swinburne is an accredited National Leader of Education and experienced Headteacher of a National Support School with 19 years of teaching & leadership roles in inner city/urban/ rural/ international schools. In 2019 she was awarded a national Pearson silver ‘Headteacher of the year award’. She has an extensive track record of supporting school improvement at local, national and international levels for schools and government officials. Leadership roles have included helping to move schools from special measures or requiring improvement to good or outstanding, analysis of standards and achievements in learning and teaching across the curriculum including in the EYFS, strategic development of senior and middle leaders and performance management. Tracy has a particular passion for developing the culture, climate and environment of a school and is particularly enthusiastic about getting this right in all schools.
